I even know of a brother who moved his family there, and after leaving the cisha prayer he was apprehended and went missing for 10 days before being deported out of the country.

Somalia seems like an Islamic utopia compared to what's going on in the middle east. You can pray 5 daily prayers in the masjid, restaurants have to be closed during Ramadan, when people have disputes they openly go to shariah courts, dugsi quraan and Islamic institutes everywhere, and in every neighbourhood you have quraan tafsiir and other Islamic books being read in the masjid with a lot of the neighbourhood attending.
