Wallahi I think I trust Dr Saleh as Saleh more than anyone else I've heard lecture on Islam in English. These people in English who have 200,000 plus views..... I usually don't trust them. I honestly think Dr Saleh as Saleh is the best I've heard in English and I really encourage people to listen to him.
I believe he studied under Sheikh Uthaymeen. He's not a social media celebrity; no bells, no whistles, no gimmicks, just a genuine scholarly person as far as I can tell.

Wallahi I am convinced we should try to understand Islam as the first three generations understood it.
I don't care what alleged stories people have about Sheikh Muhammad ibn Abdul Wahhab or what Saudi Arabia is up to this week.
Because Saudi Arabia is up to such-and-such, I need to accept Mawlid?
The din isn't based on whatever Saudi Arabia is up to this week. It is based on Quran and Sunnah and I think it should be understood in line with the first three generations.
If it turns out that the first first three generations celebrated mawlid and believed in Western liberal democracy and breakdancing in the masjid as a form of ibadah then maybe I'll think differently about those things.

Islam was already perfected in the lifetime of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him). Innovation in technology is fine. Technology isn't my religion. But Islam doesn't need to be changed. Islam was already perfected. I am horrified to think of how they are going to try to twist and change Islam.
