how would you handle taxes in somalia or any somali state? at a basic surface level

my tax policy would be minimal taxes on high earners, zero taxes on big business, minimal tax (2%) on medium size business, 10% for salaried work, 15-30% on small business (gaari gacan and such). 40% for bajaaj drivers.

remittances get taxed 50-70% across the board, increasing depending on the employment status of the recipient. criminals and terrorists get taxed 100% until they agree to get iron-branded with a 5 point star

First you need a proper government and leadership before we can discuss this, at the moment most of the budget is subsidized by aid.

So basically what youre talking about there is mostly income tax, me personally I am totally against income tax.

Youre taxing all the wrong parts in my opinion in my opinion. You are basically punishing people for being poor, and having a 70% tax on remittences is insane. That money could still return back to the government with other taxes like sales tax.

Looool that is not even the cause of the bajaaj problem at all.

Muqdishu is an extremely walkable city, and public transport is provided by the government.
What government is there to pay for that. Bajaaj will naturally go away as the people get higher living standards, along with proper government intervention i.e. banning the new sales and production of bajaj's.
Also I think the private sector does a very good job with transport I dont think the government can do much better. People in places like america say they want public transport because the private industry is not interested in it. The living standard for america is high and everyone prefers to drive cars along with government lobbying. If you look in the past, transit systems were mostly private like trains and streetcars. Government should incentivize though but of course were cursed with current somalia where development is not even thought about. Only drama battles between leaders aid qabil and democracy

xamar is walkable, it's the most anti car city in the world. bajaaj is also a very cheap and efficient mode of transport for the lazy who cant walk 3kms.

if you remove the poor road ettiquete, drug induced impairment of the driver. alongside the negligence of their vehicles. i stepped in one that didn't even have working brakes and the driver still had the nerve to haggle me after hitting another bajaaj.

that animal tax would cripple somalis bro why would we put a tariff on our strongest sector?? VAT is a good way to tax but its complicated and this government is incompetent. So it wont work sadly, There shouldnt be income tax, capital gains tax or property tax.

This will push processing on our side and create factory jobs. We shouldn't be shipping raw products; that is not a sustainable model. VAT should be handled at the local level, not the FGS but by the FMS, who then give a cut to the FGS.

USC is important but low-income workers don't have to pay this since there'll be a cutoff, I agree with the capital gains tax, property tax should exist and there should be rules regarding foreign ownership as well.

USC is a useless tax meant to pay the difference for usury payments. Garbage tax No I said capital gains, property tax and income tax should not exist at all
