The ancient practice of maanyogal

Does anyone know anything about the ancient tradition of maanyogal, or anything similar in which you swim in the sea to chase away evil spirits believed to be related with the blowing of the monsoon winds and afterwards sacrifice a cow or a camel on the shrine of Aw awes?

Interesting, I really need to start collecting old lecture prior to the collapse from native schoolars.

It's extremely interesting; I actually wrote a whole college essay on Somali female poets like Hawa Jibril, particularly her poem "Sisters," in which she expresses her rage at men in the SYL for ignoring women who fought for independence, and her poem "The Old Pro Italian Men," if you're interested, you should read her biography.

I thought the cow was supposed to be brought down to the sea and then slaughtered there? And you mean the tomb of saint Awes?
