I don’t know if their mosques shut down or somali people stopped going to them because I haven’t been hearing any salafi revert horrorstories lately. There was a time aa gabdhaha lagu qeybinjiray in those mosques and each marriage was more bizarre than the other. sihr, theft, gumeysi u name it, they went through it
Back then they used to be called marriage bandits, because they would get married and disappear just as quickly. They had no education or job, many times they were fresh outta jail or maladjusted in some other way. Some of them came from gaalo communities & those who were arab/pakistani prefered not to marry from their own communities because there are protocols and rules they wanted to avoid, these men knew that they would not pass the vetting process in their own community. Their main victims for years were some runaway somali girls, other reverts or older/divorced women from arab/pakistani community.
They would groom young girls with struggle love propaganda and tell them to disregard their families lack of consent. Kulaha ’ you’re father is ignorant & racist therefor he is not fit to be your male guardian’, then they would bring some random guy from the mosque (their friend) to be her wali (male gurdian) & give his consent to the marriage
These ’religious’ men thought it was appropriate to discuss their bedroom affairs with eachother and which women were the ’best’, which women ”well endowed” etc, in short waa wada qurun.
pretty crazy how they managed to get away with running their mosques like brothels for years, this was the era that gave birth to all the ajanabi marriage horrorstories
