The Ethiopian Situation...

Whether we like it or not....Ethiopia is a growing economic power in Africa. It has:

1. The land mass i.e size
2. The population estimated at 90 million soon
3. It has the electricity i.e. the dam
4. It has the natural resources: gold, silver, gas, farming etc

Ethiopias greatest weakness is the sea. It is difficult for one country to trade with the world using one port.

Berbera port when completed will meet Ethiopias import and export capacity and the country will ship or import 40% 0f all their goods via Berbera.

What Somaliland should aim for:

1. a free trade agreement with Ethiopia i.e. we are allowed to ship in goods tax free or minimal tax. - still in negotiations

2. Cheap electricity: to help us develop our cities and industries further - already agreed and approved

3. Somaliland govenment should start Investing heavily in border towns like: wajale, alaybaday, ina guuxa, borama etc as they will form the future distribution hubs

4. Use investments to build up the coast and improve roads network and develop new routes, along with green house base plantations along the coast to make us food suffecient

5. Build under water resvoirs across the country: 4 for every region along with industrial sheds that animals can be quarantined and feed during droughts

6. Dams along the entire coast stopping rain water from spilling into the sea

7. Nationalise fibre optic. Every house and national should have free fast internet

8. Revamp the educational system include: chinese, Arabic, English and amaharic on the cirriculum also programming, IT and writing code.

The age of warfare and enmity is over: the age of cooperation and mutual economic self interest is at hand

The reality is with protest or without protest Ethiopia is not going anywhere.
It's ethier get rich off each other needs or die of stupidity, enmity and occupation like these Somalians....

Waits for the darood suugo economists to hammer this fellow .

Here comes the world bank data :ulyin:

Fact:

The two richest communities: Somali speaking are the Somalilanders and the Hawiye. That is a fact.

Hawiye businessmen run the entire south and Kenya. Somalilanders economically run Djibouti, Ethiopia, Somaliland and even dominate Somalia markets such as money transfer along with telecommunication in the case of Somtel presence in Bari and other parts.

In Ethiopia 571 ina afdinle is richest Somali in Ethiopia a lander. In Djibouti Mohammed Dhere is the richest man and most of the business in Djibouti are lander owned.

The largest sector of trade in Somalia is the money transfer industry currently controlled by dahabshil another lander along with world remit.

Telecommunication - somcable, telesom, Somtel etc.

Import and export: Omar, Inda dero:

Manufacturing: Somaliland beverage industries, Somaliland soap factory industries:

Therefore my argument for free trade and further cooperation with Ethiopia makes sense. 90 million people in Ethiopia a modern highway on the verge of construction along with a resourceful Somaliland population is a win win arangment.

Furthermore the security gurentees with Ethiopia and the UAE to ensure our security.

We will get rich with or without recongnition and keep expanding east taking more dofaar villages along the way.

That's a lie according to the World Bank Somaliland has one of the lowest GDP per capitas and far lower than say Puntland or DDSI. It goes as follows

It goes:

Mogadishu: $590
Northeast: $896
Northwest: $640

Send a link of the report, I read a report from World Bank but I never saw those numbers.

I'm not saying you are lying or anything but I want to know more of what they base this on. :shaq:

Using humor as a defense mechanism, it's a tried and tested method but I would not be on sspot laughing while my people ate porcupines as the politicians showered their fat wives with gold.
Chill saaxib it's all fun and if you can please send me the link of the World Bank report you referenced. :drakekidding:

The report was written by someone whose own admission said he never sat foot on somali soil. If it gives these dofaar wet dreams then let them the reality is very different:

GDP per Capita Formula:

The formula for GDP divided by Population and purchasing power:

Somaliland population: 5 million
Southern Somalia: 10 million
Puntland: 1.5 million

Purchasing power: Southern Somalia followed by Somaliland. Puntland has little purchasing power it's port is a small port and it's villages are small in comparison to Somaliland and Somalia.

The reality is: if a dofaar wants to send money, make a call, wash himself, feed his mom he is probably using a lander based company.

Please give us one company medium to large: from puntland that exists across east africa. Furthermore can you tell us one thing you export across east africa or even a one notible puntland millionaire:

You can't because it doesn't exist.
