Is it the parents fault? westernization? or the refusal to learn?
I’ve learned somali at a late age and learned it myself, and to this day, I’m still not fluent. I had tried to tell my hooyo to speak somali (she knows it) but ends up forgetting to. It’s hard to see an adult somali that can’t speak somali, so what will this all look like in the future for them?

ye it sucks. I can't speak somali. I used to know as a kid and we have tons of videos of me speaking fluently at young ages but then I slowly forgot the language as I went into years of school and with not speaking the language often.

I can fluently understand everything being said from different people but it's hard for me to form the words.

Dugsi was a waste of time, macalins couldn’t even bother teaching Arabic! Also a lot of them were extremists

Most of them have their parents speaking to them in Somali and the kids replying back in (insert whatever foreign language of the country they live in). They won't learn how to communicate in the language unless they are speaking it.
