Somali Development circa 2025 be like:
A billion diaspora owned overpriced coffee shops.
A billion soulless "luxury" gated suburban homes.
A billion 5 Star Hotels.
etc

We need to stop chasing the illusion of progress and actually progress. We need more steel mills and concrete factories not coffee shops. More commie blocks and less gated communities that only 1% can afford. Proper urban development and architectural planning and less "5 star" hotels.

Commie blocks are efficient but they ugly as hell boi. When building dabaq enforce building codes and standards i.e. common design language of whitewashed exterior and carved decoration. Look to the homogenous gingerbread houses in sanaa in yemen or general omani architecture

Dhaqan is important

I follow the Omani mindset where most cities retain their cultural heritage but i wouldn't be opposed to a few business focused cities where its more international and skyscraper-ish.

Tbh i don't think we should even building skyscrapers at this point. Its the last priority on my mind what we need is roads, bridges and dams.

Whilst they are ugly there are ways to make them look good. They are there mainly for function rather than aesthetics. These suburban houses don't have either they are inefficient and ugly.

The current gen of Somalis age 16-30 are unlikely to be educated and we don't have the means to create a mass education movement like in kacaan era. However they can be used as manufacturing and construction man power.

We obviously don't want to end up as a indefinite low skilled manufacturing nation so the budget should be spend on mass enrolling the people below the age of 16 into some kind of school. Which will in the future create more opportunities for high skilled jobs/manufacturing like chips.

The south korean model

The governments top priority should be stability because at this point somalis are having a brain drain and most of the educated diaspora are too scared to come back and implement their expertise, military spending and operations should be ramped up and made top priority.

How will you globalize if your children don't have good free education and adult not well educated. Everything start from the ground up and not top to bottom. Imagine if we spent money on connections Somalia region and translating book from English to Somali and built libraries. Also invested in large scale farming to feed your populous instead of waiting for ngo to feed your populous. If we don't take care of the basics we will be taken advantage of worse than Congo.

we should start up the university of Mogadishu up again and make a yearly exam to get in there for every 18yo in Somalia, and those who get in get free education. we create a strong incentive to educate children and weed out the smartest minds in all of somalia to invest into.

A large majority of the folks investing back home just want to make easy money. They want to experience the upper class lifestyle they couldn't build in the west.

Nah. A lot of these folks are already rich here in the west or at least upper middle class. Thats why they have disposable income to even start these projects. Poor Somalis or lower middle class don't have this level of wealth to just spend cuz its expensive.
