Our restaurants are really starting to annoy me, especially in the UK. They don't look nice at all. They usually look quite dirty besides Sabiib. Customer service isn't good and the menus aren't good either. I had some terrible service in Al Kahf, even my abbo was shocked at the lack of manners. I wish people would put a little effort into coming up with new somali dishes or re-imagining existing foods without being unauthentic.

Seen it first hand as well, theyβll talk to you in Somali as if that justifies why your food is taking forever
Itβs always irked me when foreigners talk about bananas like thatβs all we eat. I find it offensive and Somalis are the worst when it comes to encouraging this. You need to understand that the racist anti-black Arab or Asians are mocking you, playing into the racist Black African caricature of the ape like madow who munches on bananas day and night. Maybe itβs all in my mind, but I always felt a sense of irritation when they go on about banana and rice and laugh like itβs some sort of joke I should be comfortable with. Banana isnβt our main dish. Itβs an optional side eaten only with rice mostly and sometimes pasta. Itβs the same way that Bangalis might eat Mango chutney. Thatβs it.
