To be honest, it's relatively easy to get a good indication of the top names. All you need is like a list of 5,000 names at a random place and then run a statistical analysis over it. Usually you will capture the top names that way.

After 2016 I even take political polls with a grain of salt lol, also you never know what if those 5000 selected were all 5000 Ali’s in the country? Stats can be weird like that with many false positives, that’s to far of a small sample size for something like most common name, I would say having access to a full census would be standard

Actually statistics is a well thought out scientific system. Stats are not weird its the methodologies which are often incorrect , if you account for the biases in polls they all coalesce into the truth with a certain confidence interval.
