So many self-hating Somali's on this website, it is saddening.

The main difference between your plan, Canuck and mine is simply the process in which we achieve the independence. We must both recognize the reality on the ground with Al-Shabbab control large swath of land and seeking to expand and combined with an armsembargo and shorted in funding for military it makes it difficult in the short-term for Vila Somalia to be independent regardless who it is.

Once Al-Shabbab is defeated or sufficient army is created should we expel the Kenyan and Ethiopian. I am under no illusion that they have our interest at heart, quite the opposite, this invasion is their attempt of self-preservation and international recognition.

The President should carry himself with greater dignity and know how bad the optics are, but the important is the securing of stability and peace, a bad picture be damned. We need peace so our people can return and rebuild.

This is exactly our problem. They (UN) want our neighbouring enemies to bring us "peace &stability). Fact on the ground is they tigres and kukuyo rarely seek out alshabab for a fight. They stay in their bunkers and just let off a few artilery rounds when al shabab is near by. Meanwhile the poor unpaid and untrained and under equipped is fighting al shabab wearing sandals and t-shirt. Anyways the problem lies with UN and not these poor savage 3rd world slums. Improvements have been happening, Mogadishu used to be controlled by Al-shabba and the same goes for Kismayo, Al-Shabab has lost large swath of land, and the peace is slowly returning and government-like structures is developing in a degree no seen in years.

Our troops have not the necessary equipment but that is due to the arms embargo imposed on us, thus it would be difficult to make a meaningful counter-offence against Al-Shabbab without the AIMSOM soldiers whom have their own problems.


I think both of you are being critical without proposing a solution and undermining the fragile governance happening and the consequences is will lose the progress that has happened if we don't consolidate around the government no matter who it is. HSM is not ideal, but for now he is the best we got and slight improvements are happening.

Ok guys let me show you some simple facts:
1. HSM had 4 years to build the army, UAE decided to help us and pays for their wages just couples of years, the results the army does not get pay expect twice in year. Small comparison between SNA & region armies like in SL & PL armies shows you the difference.
2. He overpays the members of parliament & ministers instead of cutting half of their wages and gives it to the army.
3. The war on Corruption(gas company "Som oil " scandal)
All these things show bad leadership skills.

1) Al-Shabab has lost control of key cities such as Monadishu and Kismaymoo in his term.
2) Life is slowly returning to Mogadishu and the peace is slowly returning.
3) Consolidation at the federeal is happening including a constitution and elections.

I don't disagree that he is bad leader but progress has happened unlike our previous leaders, only that true patriots must consolidate around the government, not just when their favorite person is leading it.
