The phases of the Kacanka government.

It wasn't a one tribe rule for the 21 years Barre was in power.

1. 1969-1976- It was called the SRC and was purely a nationalist government. These were the golden years of the Kacanka and perhaps Somali history. The government comprised all clans.

2. 1978- 1986 - After the failed usman maxamud coup, they're purged from top positions of the military. Barre also distrusts other clans and packs the government and military with the MOD clans. The red berets especially is now filled with majority Mx and Og. SNM is also formed in this period after isaaq dissidents protest MOD domination in government.

3. 1986-1989- The regime knows its in trouble and attempts to buys off SSDF to its side with the hope of uniting all daroods under the government and defeating SNM. The regime also begins arming clans that are close to it like arming the Ogs in beledweyne and in the north against other clans. The government looses all legitimacy and the army disintegrates. It basically becomes all Somalis vs red berets (Mx & Og)

4. 1989- 1991- After Barre arresting gabiyow, Og soldiers mutiny and form SPM. It is now SNM, USC,SPM vs red berets basically all Somalis vs Marexan. Morgan also has other darood clans fighting in the red berets BT it was basically only MX left.

I get tired of hearing the same stories about the kacaan over and over again in these forums. Somalis have nothing else to talk about.
The Kacaan represented the Golden and Ugly years of Somali history, so people never get tired of talking about it, i guess.

My dad and my uncle were both in the military and National intelligence service respectively up until 1990. And not were they only in the government but they were high ranking officials
