I like how there's no such thing as a Somali stranger, it's like you've known the person forever.

I like how generous we can be without any expectations of owing someone.

I like how we visit each other whenever something goes wrong.

I like how everyone magically knows everyone.

No wallahi. We had a family friend stay with us back when I was in middle school. We didn't even share a clan. She stayed with us until she got married 3 years after!

We also have the best traditional clothes.

We are happy with life, no matter what goes wrong in our lives we are still greatful.

You can count on Somalis to support you whether it's your wedding, funeral of a loved one, court date, or in the hospital.

We are also respectful towards elders. Every older lady or gentleman becomes Aunt and uncle.
