Somalias ambassadors are appointed by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The last two to have headed this Ministry are Abdirahman Duale Beyle and Abdisalam Omer, and both hail from Gadabuursi. The one before these two was Fowziyo Adan, who is Isaaq.

The leader of this Ministry, just like every other ministry, answer to the Prime Minister, who have all been Darood.

The appointed ambassadors are in return confirmed by the Somalia Cabinet.
