Kids backhome starve. While HSM dismantles SNA. So that he doesn’t get couped. Constant wars. No wonder people would rather be caught by Libyan authorities face being enslaved. Than live in Somalia. On top of that. There will never be an winner to the current conflict. It will be AMISOM for the next 30+ years
Kids are starving everywhere. Heck I knew kids who were food insecure at my school. That does not change the fact peoples cities are doing well for themselves. No ones larping.
Who me? HSM doesn't even govern where I'm from. I could careless about him tbh. All I said was that a lot of these cities are far better than the 00s and 10s. We still have along way to go but I see the way the Somali people work hard to improve their living standards and I acknowledge it.
I do not care if we had small progress. Many countries have been in worser situations than we were. They’ve fared better. Somali politicians are useless. Every single one of them deserves to see the end of the barrel
It's not small progress but big progress. But what bothers me is that the Somali people are so divided we will never see progress at a country level. It is very embarrassing to see how these politicians are sell outs and people will blindly follow them. How many generations of Somalis will be born before we get our act together?
It is not at all clear to me that the average person in Somalia is better off today than they were in the 00s or 10s. I believe that the average person in Somalia is in fact poorer today than in the past.
The improving living standards you are seeing in the large cities is just an effect of population growth. There are many more well off people in an absolute sense but there are probably fewer of them relative to the total population. Somalia is probably getting poorer over time.
Cant really speak for all of Somalia but I can speak for only where my parents are from. And I would have to say that they are doing far better compared to 00s and 10s. More developed, stable and more opportunity to work too. A lot of my family in the recent years due to stability in the region and being left alone were able to escape poverty and create lives for themselves. When I was there in the 10s they were struggling to stay afloat and in a few years the region/their lives have completely changed. The roads weren't paved, no electricity but now they have it all.

Many people don't understand that the Somali politicians doesn't lack the power to change the country.
They don't want to change it for the better in the first place.
May Allah curse the Somali politicians who cause these crimes against the innocent people.
And curse whoever support them in anyway.

No point blaming the diaspora or even the corrupt politicians as ultimately, people back home will often support these same thieves out of clan loyalty.
These so called politicians are often selected by clan leaders. If the people back home are truly serious about changing the circumstances, they should go after these clan leaders and so called politicians instead of continuing to turn a blind eye. These thieves don’t fear the public because they know that their reer or constituents will always have their back.
Having seen how so many people back home defend known corrupt politicians from their reer, I find it very difficult to have much sympathy for anyone but the children.

UN has been underballing fertility in Somalia compared to the Surveys im noticing. Population growth is probably 4%.
Somalia basically needs Chinese level growth to just not get poorer. Obviously thats not happening anytime soon.
People are the biggest resource a country can have, Problem with somalia is that they believe in clan based politics were clan members buy seats instead of a meritocracy were the best man is selected, instead we have people who go into debt to buy seats of course theyre gonna need to pay off that debt and thats were the countrys resources are going.
its also a huge country with small population thats spread out, so the people are much more divideable based on clan lines or ideology. Building better roads connecting people could remedy this but for that you need someone who cares about the situation,
you wouldve thought Sheikh sharif the leader of the party who beat the ethiopian invasion who lived his life as a humble islamic teacher would be less corrupt and more nationalist, but no he turns into HSM/Farmajo 2.0.
The only hope left is that somalia stabilizes enough for diaspora to return on mass and take over from these FOBs who dont know nothing, but thats slim, the only diasporas who care about somali poltics are bums who failed in the west whilst the successful ones work and enjoy their lives.

where will that 500Ms go? same place the last 3Bn went, pockets of a few hawiyes couple of darood, maybe the last drop will land on a isaaq and raxanweyne? they get food aid.
This is the play the UN designed for somalia it works so well they dont even need to intervene anymore, somaliland is part of this plan and that wont change. the sooner they stop begging for ictiraaf and accept their fate the better.
