I have a personal theory (that I have clashed with some users on here) based on historical writings from Cerulli and others that the northern Jweyne clans are omotic migrants.
We all know that Bale was Somali before the Oromo conquered it, and it was inhabited by D&M who then migrated down to where they live currently sometime around the 1500’s.
In Bale the local Oromo have a relationship with some local omotic people (^1) where those omotic people do what the oromo regard as dirty work (tanning iron work etc) just like in the Northern Somali clans are done by Gaboye. Southern RW clans are the only Somali clans that don’t have Gaboye clans, so why? They hold iron-work and tanning and all of that in abhorrence like northern somali clans do, so who historically did that for them?
the answer is something I think you can reason out.
