Amharic is a lingua de franca of Ethiopia. I doubt any of the 50+ tribes in the SNNPR speak Amharic as a first language. It's easier to translate English - Amharic, Amharic - local language.
Just over a quarter of Ethiopians speak Amharic as a first language. By no coincidence, Amhara make up about a 5th of the population. Afaan Oromo remains the most spoken primary language and the biggest threat to Ethiopian cohesion. Even as a second language and at any degree of fluence, Amharic doesn't penetrate more than 50% of the population.
