First off, Saddam Hussein's televised purge of the central committee of don't remember. Watch the whole thing. 
True show of his strength, which only expanded and cemented it. Making one half execute the other is a brilliant way to instill loyalty, which comes from respect and at times fear.
Hitlers speeches that made Germany believe in him Wallahi these speeches are beautiful. Germany was at an all-time low at that moment, and he preached for unity and prosperity through a speech that was beautifully crafted. His passion and love of Germany and his fellow Germans is remarkable.
And the latest of course, Erdogan and his faking of a Coup. During the Coup he rallied his supporters to the street, and afterwards he purged his military and a few thousand judges. He knows he has power of Europe, thanks to the immigrant crisis. He knows the US won't backstab or desert one of their biggest ally, since he could very easily side with Russia and China which rhe US does not want.
Due to unstability in the Middle East he has direct influence over who can rise and who can fall, except for against the Saudis. He sees the potential in Somalia and invests wisely in it's future as a superpower in Africa.
I do not know what he has planned, but It will be exciting to see.
