My abti back home told me he saw extremely oversized Turkish vessels excessively overfishing in our waters. I looked into it and came across an article on an under the table deal HSM made with the Turks allowing any Turkish citizen to come over and freely fish in our waters with zero regard to our maritime environment and the Somali people who so heavily depend on it. There was a ban on foreign entities fishing in Somali waters due to the depletion of our resources but for some odd reason HSM lifted it for his Turkish overlords friends.
I believe the effects of these backhanded dealings, combined with the food security, will have an overt and lasting negative impact, especially on the Somali people, but time will tell. May Allah SWT protect us and our resources.
