So tell me. How is a nation that is currently neck to neck in fire power suppose to beat their enemy? I think the US is more concerned that they don't get a cut of the pie. Somalia desperately needs trained personnel and good weapons, if the US is willing to aid in that then so be it. If not then the state will have to find its own way.
That being said I completely understand the fear that they have that AS will get new weapons. In fact due to the lack of accountability in the government I think only a small quantity of weapons should be handed over. The country really doesn't need more gun but rather air support, if group troops had some fighter pilots to soften up targets then cleaning up large parts of the nation would be so easy. So yes there shouldn't be a sudden influx of guns but we need a good amount and better yet we need drones and air support.
