Ultimately, nobody knows for certain about the origins of the Somali people.

However, considering that the regions Somalis inhabit are most likely to have been the place where

• The Land of Punt was located

• First domestication of Camels occurred

And considering our Nomadic tribal lifestyle resembles that of the Middle-East, a region where Camels are just as culturally valuable.

It is not a farfetched idea that we Somalis are a mix of ancient
"Horners" and ancient "Middle-Easterners".

This also goes inline with our traditional narratives and gives a plausible reason
as to how we accepted Islam and still have our own language intact.
