It's so embarrassing that a Somali President is only visiting Eritrea because Ethiopia told him it's okay to.

On the bright side, we will be able to openly cooperate with them to contain Ethiopia going forward.

What were the goals for the trip?

I think it is all about the lifting of the UN sanctions from Eritrea. Ethiopia already officially submitted a request to the UN to lift Eritrean sanction and is also encouraging Somalia to help Eritrea in this regard. Remember the main official reason for the sanction was that Eritrea is accused of supporting Al Shabab terrorists. But now both Ethiopia and eventually Somalia supports the lifting of the sanction, the west will have no excuse to punish Eritrea further. Only Djibouti is still not on board because of its still unresolved border dispute with Eritrea.

I feel like this is a slap to the face of Djibouti, should've visited after we solved our border dispute with Eritrea.

Remember they killed 50 of our soldiers in 2008 and are holding a dozen hostage

We can't do much for Djibouti without established Diplomatic channels

This visit will be start, Somalia never has and never will betray Djibouti

What would happen if the Tigrays dumped the PM successfully, would all this be pointless?
I don't trust Eritrea but we have a mutual interest in Ethiopia, so we will probably see more of Eritrea in the future.
