Vitiligo in Somalis

Is there any historical word for vitiligo in Somali culture. :dwill:

I’m asking this question because a close friend of mine has just been diagnosed with vitiligo.

I do not think it is very common and is considered an autoimmune disorder. Generally, autoimmune conditions are diseases of industrialization/modernity. As they are more common in the developed world. Some people see conventional physicians whereas others try alternative practitioners i.e. Functional Medicine Doctors, Naturopaths, Traditional Chinese Medicine or Ayurveda.

They notice every physical marker of difference. Of course they will ask questions and give them a nickname. Aside from stating the obvious they won't discriminate. At most they will think you had an ineffective Diana treatment and may provide unsolicited advice and unsafe product suggestions. They don't see or perhaps don't know what this disease is.
