VP holds talks with Fish Firms to organize Fish Expo

The Vice President, Hon. Abdirahman Abdilahi Ismail “Sayli’i has met with the officials of two fishing firms that are engaged in developing the fishing sectors in Somaliland.

The mission behind the meeting between Somaliland VP and the officials of Fair Fishing and Transfigure Foundation was meant to accelerate the holding of fish expo in Somaliland which is held annually in the country.

The Fish Expo is also intended to showcase Somaliland’s Fish produce. The project is due to be jointly organized by the ministry of fishery in conjunction with Fair Fishing. Transfigure Foundation is Fishing firm which has recently arrived in Somaliland with the major aim of exploring ways to exploit of Fish resources in Somaliland. The VP has conveyed a clear message to both Fishing firms which is to develop Somaliland’s fish sector.

Someone took a pic few weeks ago from Elayo in Sanaag (last border town with Bari) looking eastward at a bunch of Chinese trawlers in the distance.

They probably have the intelligence that Somaliland last station is Maydh with patrols just about reaching Las Qoray but we'll just wait n see about to Chinese thing.

Somaliland has been known to just detain for a day then let go but massive changes are happening as with the HGA mayor who seem to have fled while under investigation and Berbera Mayor becoming more competent

Waqdariya is the border for Navy. They stay around xiis and maudh. To be honest they dont do shit.

They should at least start to fill illegal trawlers so we can gather evidence against them and take them to court for violations of out sea borders. Why are somalis so short sighted? sure we're weak now and can't protect our waters! but imagine how much money we could get back from them if we take them to courts later and have video evidence of them fishing in our waters illegally.

They could basically be forced to compensate us for all the fishes they've taken and more.

Apparently UAE are giving us sea surveillance equipment. But it doesn't matter if we know who's fishing if we don't have the manpower to capture illegal fishermen.

There's a reason only Yemen/Iraqi peasants are being caught and not the big fish like Chinese/Japanese. And forget about taking them to court, Farmajo allowed the Chinese to rob us all, it's not even illegal fishing anymore, it's legit We won't even have a case.

Unless UAE give us ships none of what they do will change a thing.

Somaliland Coast Guard gets training and equipment from EU. If the Chinese come to SL waters they will be arrested and their boats would 100% be seized.

UAE is expected to train and equip the army and the coast guard as well, I suppose anytime after June 2019.

I'm glad you're optimistic sxb, but like I said the only way to stop the Chinese is to sink their ships. We have no equipment capable of that, but are you sure UAE will provide us with it? They break promises with Somalis all the time. No point if all we capture are broke Yemeni fishermen. The surveillance system is just a radar at the end of the day, indoyar don't give a f*ck if they're on radar.
