I never knew americans played football like that

Let me explain America's sports structure

Our youth development pipelines are mainly connected to our schools. 99% of Somali parents weren't aware of this at all and didn't allow their sons to compete for any school teams. Only a extremely small minority of somali American kids got to keep in sports. Hence why we barely have any track athletes, basketball players, soccer players, and football players.

Also our soccer system is pay to play. It's basically become a middle class sport like basketball here. Parents gotta pay like 1-3k a year to put their kid in some sort of academy or club that competes in a youth league. Only a few amount of poor kids get free offers to compete in these leagues. Hence why America has struggled to build a strong national team.

We have thousands of kids nationwide that love soccer but most of them are poor minorities. Poor Hispanics and Africans do very well for public school soccer teams. The really good ones get college scholarships and pray they get drafted into the MLS

So far in the MLS we've had handwalla

That's very interesting. It's the complete opposite in Europe. Majority come from working class background. It's why they're are so many black people, especially in France. It's not very organized like America, and you have to play in local competitions to be seen. 2 of my classmates got scouted for fulham.

Most of the big money sports are tennis and formula 1

Ever sport here is open to poor and middle class families. As long as the sport is available at your school you can try out.

Class only starts to matter when your kid wants to take sports seriously. Look at basketball for example. All NBA players competed in AAU(private youth basketball leagues) and in public/private school basketball leagues. AAU regional travel teams cost like 2-3k a season per player. The only way poor kids can make it to the NBA is if they get sponsored by a Traveling AAU team. Gone are the poor kids can just rely on the public school system to get into the NBA.

If you look at the best American soccer players most of them were rich or middle class kids that either played in expensive academies in the states or trained overseas as a kid.

American football probably has the most players from low income backgrounds. Mainly because their isn't any private youth football leagues. The best kids nationwide compete in public schools and than go on to develop in college before joining the NFL.

The NFL is the true working class league.

A large majority of American professional basketball, soccer, and baseball largely come from upper/middle class backgrounds. A large majority of NBA players had a parent that either played professional or college level basketball.

:camby: get these rec league pictures out of my thread negro. Leagues like this exist every where

But it is soccer still regardless of league level. Somalis are still playing football/Soccer and most of these guys are born in the Midwest. Some of them hopefully will join MLS.

You prolly suck at the game lol. How many Tiris can you do? I bet you have no clue what Tiris is in soccer term. I can do 500 with my left foot and half that with my right leg since I was born Lefty. The good old days my teammates used to carry me on their shoulders are over but still, football is in my blood and in the family too.

This kid is insane prospect he’s definitely going to Europe as soon as he turns 18.

@Kisame i saw with all the previous American players a lot of them were from refugee camps and they didn’t last long so they could have been fake ageing.

This kid was born here (I’m assuming) so skys the limit

Yep. I also think he might be getting mentored by handwalla who was a pro baller himself. Handwalla was in the MLS for 4 years and knows what it takes to make it to the pros.

"they didn’t last long so they could have been fake ageing."

This low-key disrespectful :mjlol::dead::dead::dead:

I also just found out we've had some another ethnic mali in the league for only 1 season

Omar abdullahi Mohamed played one season with FC Cincinnati back in 2016. Afterwards spent the next 6 years jumping between different second divisions in America and randomly ended his career in the Turkish 2nd league

We also had a Canadian mali get drafted to an MLS team

But he ended up not making the team do to roster limitations and somehow ended up in the Canadian premier League for a bit. Nows he's in the USL which Is basically like our 2nd division here in america.

We also got another abdi in the USL. Abdi Mohamed
