What a bit of self respect and competent leadership can accomplish UN sends delegation to Somalia

Our previous engagement with the UN was one sided. They sneered at Somali politicians and dictated the agenda.

Khayre's and Farmaajo's ascend changed that. The UN is now backpedaling and acting engaging sensitively as they know Somalia is what keeps them afloat.

Somalia is top of agenda and worth something.

We did not bow down because a competent leadership knows that we have something to offer and that it is not a one way street.

This is why I like and support PM Khayre and President Farmajo.

Where are the ones who sided with the UN 'stance' or the old SRSG?

Listen from the horses mouth

Listen loud and clear!

If someone has self worth and respect then you will get it back.

UN Under-Secretary-General for Political Affairs Rosemary DiCarlo on Thursday expressed satisfaction with the progress Somalia has achieved on the political and security fronts and noted recent efforts to expedite the constitutional review process.

Ms. DiCarlo made the remark during her day-long visit to Somalia, her first field trip since her appointment to the position one month ago. The visit was part of a regional tour of three countries in East Africa.

The Under-Secretary-General met with Federal President Mohamed Abdullahi Mohamed Farmaajo and senior federal government officials at the Presidential Villa in the Somali capital, Mogadishu, and they reviewed the political, security and economic situation in the country.

“I wanted to come to show how important Somalia is to the United Nations. It’s a high priority for the Secretary-General and for me,” she said in an interview after meeting with the President.

“I had a very good discussion with the President, and it is very clear Somalia has made a great deal of progress over the last decade,” Ms. DiCarlo stated, adding that she had assured the President of the UN’s continued support to Somalia.

The Under-Secretary-General also met with senior UN officials and staff and held discussions with the senior leadership of the African Union Mission in Somalia.

On arrival in Mogadishu, she was received by the Special Representative of the UN Secretary-General for Somalia, Michael Keating, and the Federal Deputy Foreign Affairs Minister Mukhtar Mahat Daud.

Ms. DiCarlo visited Nairobi earlier this week and met with senior officials of the Kenyan government. At the conclusion of her visit to Mogadishu, she left for the Ethiopian capital, Addis Ababa, where she will hold discussions with the leadership of the African Union.

Is that what you are implying?
Only in Somalia does UN provide security and pay salary of the President, the Primier and the entire govt.

So when Somali regime can pay its own bills and provide its own security will that be called honourable.

The UN can no longer afford to ignore the calls made by this government. For they are not only competent, but capable as well. As they have shown that Somalia is at the top of their priority we expect a delegate that is fully in-tune with how things work in Somalia and will fully back our government and not become a hindrance.

Django it is simple and like everything in life.

I have principles. The leadership of Somalia have too. The UN give us assistance on behalf of donors through their agencies but we are a sovereign country.

They cannot behave as their wish as Somalia has something to offer in return. Knowing your self worth and value is important.

There are lines that should not be crossed and if that will make it difficult unless it is rectified.

Think of a Spouse relationship, just because the husband provides the sustenance doesn't mean he can violate or belittle his wife.

The same with Employer/Employee if I know my self worth and have principles I will defend myself and not allow to be violated just because they have me on their payroll.

The government did not except Saudi and UAE's demands to change the natural stance they took on Qatar. Saudi Arabia excepted it and acknowledged Somalia's stance the other defeated though they threatened and closed hospital and other humanitarian projects to make us submit.

We persevered and look where we are others did not and that earned us respect.

You just don't do something or submit yourself because someone more powerful violates you as a person or nation.

I will never be violated and so will be Somalia under Khayre and Farmaajo.

They already do.

The Norwegian have cut the funding to the Government since they switched the Somali accounts which was in the hands of the corrupt UN monitoring group that would publish it's quarterly fake news for destabilisation to IMF world bank who are the lesser evil and far more professional caring about their reputation.

This single move of using the colonialists against each other, has led to the Norwegian and American's cut all funding's, they used this monitoring group for nefarious purposes and were not happy with this decision.

As a result the revenues that are collected from Mogadishu (tax/airport/port) are now used to pay all the soldiers in the country, parliament members and police.

That's 16000 soldiers up and down the country being funded from that budget. This forced the government to cull not only useless staff but also bogus army conscripts as the money is rather tight.

The American's have even cut funding to 1/3 of Danab which are now being paid by the government, the excuse by the American's is that these are "Obama soldiers", Trump's official's want to cut all of it, but congress is opposed to it.

These are the fruits of self sufficiency, your no longer dictated to by others as had been the case ever since Barre's regime whose army was funded by the USSR and subsequently collapsed without it.
