Omar* is in Kabul with his wife and children. He worked as a wartime interpreter for US and allied forces for five years - but now, he says, the US "has turned its back" on him.

This isn’t the first time America denied asylum to interpreters and contractors. Some even made it over only to face deportation.

It’s really messed up but imo they should’ve planned for this from the start. If they didn’t get any type of guaranteed safety or asylum they should’ve known the chances of their request being denied was likely and plan accordingly. The U.S can’t resettle every single interpreter/contractor and their families, that’s insane.
