Somali today resembles a confederation, like the swiss confederation before the sonderbund war, germany also tried out confederacy but they were monarchies compared to the swiss who favoured a republican state. Somali is de facto a confederation with the central government not having enough power for it to be considered a federal state like the usa, somalia doesn't have a functioning currency ffs.
