inshallah if i have kids I hope that I wouldn't be too strict with them on day to day matters. I mean, I would still make sure they are living in accordance with islam of course, but I wouldn't but I wouldn't expect them to have a particular career choice or do everything in a certain way (which is how it was at my house loool) like if one my kids wants to get dreadlocks or dye their hair a different color, I wouldn't care as long (as they aren't up to anything haram), I'd give them leeway to have their own personality and whatnot.
