He’s not as bad as they make him out to be . The war on al shabab is doing pretty well overall just on the slow side . Doesn’t help the man is corrupt also that no one can deny that .

Sadly, his main aim is enriching his family and associates for as long as possible, not governance. Somali presidents since the establishment of the TFG have been exceptionally poor. Abdullahi Yusuf sic’ed Ethiopians on Xamar. Sheikh Shariif meant well but was in over his head. Farmaajo was probably the most interested in governance but lack of political know-how meant he made too many enemies too quickly instead of being smart with who he picked fights with.

None of the main candidates for 2026 seem to be what Somalia really needs sadly. Kheyre is probably the best of them all but even I have doubts because of how he conducted himself during badbaado qaran. He was kind of seen as being a bit more above qabyaalad than everyone else but even he fell for the hawiyenimo mind virus in the end. Inshallah we get someone who will help Somalia and not just try to get rich while in office.

Honestly deni might be the best option because of this. He’s already rich so he won’t steal + PL will be onside before the oil money comes. But I just know with an MJ president some nonsense will happen

Ngl I don’t know about him tbh. Sadly we saw with farmaajo how being daarood hampers politicians in Mogadishu and I doubt he’d be someone to put the interests of the country over Puntland. Last I checked I believe they’re still trying to dispute the oil revenue sharing agreement despite the fact that FMS would get so much more money than any other similar entity in any other country lol.

Deni would I’m pretty sure. This is the 2nd he’s going for the main seat whilst being president of PL and campaigning using PL funds. He also grew up in xamar as well.

On the topic of PL, I’m sorry but if you act completely separate and isolate yourselves from FGS there’s no way you shouldn’t have to make concessions to obtain oil money. I’m pro devolution but you can’t have it all your own way.

Where's the phase 2 that he has been talking about for a while?

This interview with the deputy prime Minister made me lose hope in his government.

Almost everyone in Somali politics grew up in Xamar or spent some time there. Until Xamar’s status is solved it’ll always be harder for daarood politicians there sadly. Primitive politics runs the country.

Regarding your 2nd point, I agree. FGS and FMS can’t expect for everything to be a non-negotiable. The issue is they treat everything like it’s a redline. Besides AS, the next president needs to work on ironing out the constitution in good-faith. That’s probably the most important thing for the FGS. This includes how states will contribute to the federal budget and how much oversight the FGS will have. There can be no real development in Somalia until everyone knows their role and a court system is in place to protect rights.

Kheyre was put between a rock and a hard place - support elections on time or risk fighting his own clan to accept an extension + 1m1v. It's really that simple. Had he supported the latter he would have badbaado qaran, SL/PL/JL and AS all on his ass. A timely election win for Farmaajo could have kept his momentum going to tackle those standing in the way but he played his cards too early. HSM wanted the same thing as Farmaajo in 2016 but the MPs/IC forced him into holding elections which he tried to sheg last minute but he also fell.

His corruption knows know bounds and he is notorious for privatizing and profiting of every single asset he fan acquire, a true example of why local leaders are unable to help themselves unlike diaspora bred leaders.

I’m Murusade so dw I know he would’ve faced backlash. My issue isn’t about rejecting the extension but staying above the qabiil aspect and keeping it purely philosophical. For the most part he did that but there were a few moments where it devolved into qabiil which wasn’t a good look for him considering the fact his main appeal stemmed from wide ranging support amongst other clans. I’m just tired of qabiil politics tbh it hasn’t worked for 30 years idk why people think it’s gonna work now all of a sudden.

I believe if you placed all somalia presidents during their peak years in a race he would come last place.
