I started working at a summer camp when I was 14 years old.
The camp was 30 minutes drive from my house, and you know Somali parents won't let you sleep somewhere else. So either my mom or dad would drive me to and from the job. I was in charge of marking kids names, and giving them their tags. It was 7 dollars an hour. Thursday-Sunday 8 am-2 pm. I was making moola.
My second job was when I was 16, my friend's mom was a financial analyst at Macy's and she was cool with HR, we both got hired, and I used to work there part time until I graduated high school.
