I know during the futah al habesh there were accounts of adal forces wearing a mix between chain mail and cuirass.

However when did this practice end? Wars didn’t vanish after the fall of the adal it was still needed.

Especially when you see somalis still using swords and spears for warfare against colonial forces. They can only be seen without armour.

I understand that are after guns were getting more and more advanced people stopped wearing full chainmail for flexibility.

However cuirass we’re still around until recently.

Also you would think excavation it would be easy to find armour and swords at lost cities sites.

I also know that some of the armour and swords were imported but im sure not all weapons were imported.

Economic collapse of Somali and Habesha states. Civilization took a nose dive for centuries.

by the time we started to recovery it was already the age of industrialization . Armour become obsolete

Is there a single record of armour used post adal?

Somalis adapted guns and introduced canon warfare to Africa, armor became useless, ancient Somali city states even wore armor as the chinese described them, here Adal armor with stolen Portuguese helmet kkkk

Wouldn't armor cause overheating, especially in Africa?
North Africa is a lot hotter than most parts of the Horn and yet they were wore it.Most Somalis were either nomads or farmers and couldn’t afford Indian/Arab armour. These were reserved for settled elites and some of the elites of the nomadic clans across the HOA.

Even in Western Eurasia for most of it’s history.Armor was mostly reserved elites

How did the average nomads of the Euroasian steppe acquire armour then?

It was mostly their elites via trade with settled civilizations like Iranic speakers,Chinese & Settled Europeans
Not really.

They made it themselves cheaply through raw hide (lemellar armour) or scale armour. There’s no reason why the Tumaal(Euroasian nomadic blacksmiths did) wouldn’t be able to make similar armours. They had the skill set to do so.

Why wear heavy armor when just one bullet from a gun would kill you? Every region that adopted guns did away with bulky useless armor

There’s no evidence that shows the average Turkic or Mongolia tribesman had complete metal armour.Historically they wore something similar to this:

The early Arab armies of the Rashidun Caliphate also didn’t wear metal armour except for the Hijazi settled elites and some of the nomadic Arabian elites.

Simply better.

After doing my own research, I've come to the conclusion that North Africa has largely desert terrain, which is very different from the more humid environment of the Horn. The heat in North Africa is often very dry and therefore easier to endure for longer periods of time, while in the Horn, humidity is more prevalent and makes it feel much hotter and harder to manage. I think that's a better explanation than Somalis not being able to afford armor.
