it's been a while since I wore a macawis, am feeling less somali as the days goes on
:yacadiim:
I think you'll find one in you're local somali store. Weirdly enough there is a market for maxawis outside of the somali community. I was surprised to see oromos and other habashis buy macawis from somali shops kkk.

Well you gotta do what you gotta do having macawis in the house is as important as having unsi iyo luban. Of course if your looking for an alternative you can always wear a long kilt.

Ngl, I've seen Amhara men in the Somali state wear macawis and their women wear baati/gogarad :browtf:
But out in the west?!? That's a new for me :williamswtf:
In the somali region? You mean jigjiga or dir dhabe right? Some of them are amhara muslims but i don't know about the others. I can't even begin to understand why but i wouldn't call it a very common phenomena. Funnily enough i've seen an amhara muslim women married to a somali man from hargeisa and what is weird is that she refuses to teach her children a sip of amharic.

Yup, Dir Dhaba, Jigjiga and other Somali citites that they live in. And it's not limited solely to Muslim Amharas. It's more common amongst those born there or lived there for a longer time, than recent arrivals.

Every now and then do I watch vlogs and it appears to become more normal for them to dress 'appropriately' among Somalis. There a couple of them with Somali attire seen in this video, if you watch from 6-8 minute timemark.

The language thing of letting go, appear to be more common among Amhara reverts than those from muslim Amhara families since a few generations. Where the latter tend to hold their Amhara heritage true to their heart while being proud muslims, and those revert instead integrate/assimilate into their spouse's culture.

You'd think people wearing our attire is a complement to us until you realize that they're slowly appropriating it.

You might even see channels such as bbc (been)bc in the far future of 2050 calling this the ethiopian style.
