Definitely Oromos, I had Oromo friends when I lived in Minneapolis many of them have mathow hair texture and some of them have mathow facial features (nose, mouth, lips).

Oromos have the most diverse phenotypes in the Horn of Africa in my opinion, A lot of them can pass as Somalis, some of them look very mathow, some of them look very Cushitic. I know Oromos who could pass as African Americans like this one oromo guy named chombae I met he’s from St. Paul.

Oromos and Amharas are more caucasian than Somalis despite having nappy hair, they breed with those Omotic people that's what made them timo rock type from Pokemon. We didn't interact with Omotic individuals much, so we have more hair type ranges from Type 1/2 very rare to Type 4a max.

That’s because oromos are not homogenous like Somalis. They’re a confederation of different assimilated groups. Oromo A are Habesh like and borana have more omotic and less west Asian admixture whereas Oromo B are similar to Somalis but with more omotic admixture

Many of them look indistinguishable from amharas especially the christian ones. Muslim oromos look more somali i guess.
Anyway many somalis and amharas can also easily pass as african americans

According to some studies wolayta have more arabian ancestry than us.
My guess is that we have more northafrican and less arabian while it's the other way around for most ethiopian afroasiatic speakers

Possibly more arabian like ancestry (instead of other west asian group) but more sub saharan african ancestry which is what your question is about.

What's the matter with Ethiopian somalis? I thought they were identical to other somalis except for a few dir subclans who mixed with oromos
