Update on Beledweyne, "Somalia Prime Minister Hassan Ali Khaire on Monday formed a 22 member committee to respond to the effects of flooding that has hit the riverine regions of the country affecting thousands of people, Radio Dalsan reports."

I read the article it says the President is going to Burundi and then he'll be in attendance for the soccer game against Tanzania.
But hopefully President Farmaajo visits Beledweyne and helps out the civilians and says a speech.
The flood is much important than a soccer game no doubt about that. The President might probably postpone his appointment and visit in the upcoming days.
People in somalia arent thinking ahead, how are regions going through floods while others are dying of thirst.

Beledweyne diaspora havent raised enough money , the somali government has agreed to route aid to the region.This 22 people committe will benefit the region greatly if they can set their priorities str8.
How much would you estimate a damn would cost to reroute the water flow throughout southern somalia.
Also the vast amount of water in this region is suprising.Hydroelectric damns, rice fields etc could be planted all over the region.The left over water could be stored and sent throughout somalia.

First off we have raised enough money to provide instant relief to the flood stricken citizens such as packaged food, blankets, etc.
Obviously not enough money to build dams and provide hydro electricity since those cost north of a billion dollars and takes long time to build.
Beledweyne may be fertile and have abundance of water but this will not last long. The Ethiopian government is building or has built dams in the highlands where shabelle river originated from which restricts water flow by almost 40%
What used to be an abundant amounts of water that could be sold is now reduced to being barley sustainable for the whole Hiiran region. We absolutely cannot afford to share our natural resources with other regions at such a critical moment of time, not that we were gonna share anyways.

It will be the first state that will be centralised or at least politically centralised under the Farmaajo Administration.After Xamar and the surrounding regions are secured the South West state along with Hirshabelle will be paper states.This will also allow the region to rebuild rapidly.
Farmaajo has the right idea however his implementation is faulty.There is no "we" or "them" their is only us.
Farmaajo visit isn’t gonna help the situation, what he needs to do is form an organization that prepares for these kind of disaster that seem to occur annually. There are steps that can be taking to minimize the situation, if not completely preventable by planning ahead. I hope for the best inshallah

Did any of them ever go back?
I’m not too sure if Mareexan actually migrated back to be honest, most likely not. Perhaps in the early 2000’s but they did have a small district in Beledweyne and their properties are still there I believe.
