Many countries have overlapping claims on food such as the Israelis and Arabs with hummus or the Turks and Greeks with Baklava. I see no reason why we shouldn't challenge other claimants of sambusa. Let's make up an elaborate story about the Ancient Punt people trading with India and introducing the sambusa to them.

It was the food of the original freemasons known as the knight templars, hence the triangle primordial symbolism. It symbolized the holy trinity in edible form and would contain three different foods within it, namely Beef, potato and onion. Each representing the father, the son and the holy spirit. This tradition was carried on to other non Christian nations to spread the good word, through good food. The masons believed if one ate this samosa, they would embody divine qualities and reign superior over other nations. Hence the reason why Al shabaab banned it and said it was symbolic of shirk(polytheism) :troll:

Hindis claim it but most hindi food is rip off gulf food. They only have crushed beans, the rest of their cuisine was brought by the Mughal empire. That's why they're the only people to call it samosa. From North africa and sham ila Tanzania it called sambusa.

I believe it originated in the gulf. I think Oman.
