Galmudug isn't getting jack shit compared to everybody else:bell:

Puntland is beating off even the FGS in terms of aid :whoo:

But Somaliland is literally swimming in the aid money :wowsweat:

kkkk yes wlahi! We eatin good fam!
nothin to brag tho but still shows how influential jamhuuriyada barakaysan is.

couldnt believe it before because last i checked sland had less than $50 million dollars in aid. but this new stats in reliefweb is counting every penny the whole local ngos and intl. ngos get from UN and other sources. even the turkish and s.arabia budget aupport to FSG is included.

PS: less than third of all this aid is prolly spent inside somalia and further half is pocketed by corrupt folks before tiny teeny amount gets to somali ppl. its sad world!

Development loan is the way to go. no more hand outs!

@El padrone I agree, aid should only be given during national emergencies (like droughts) otherwise we'll become too dependant on handouts and the govt will be less accountable to the people.

Until recently, Somaliland used to receive little to no aid at all:

Whereas countries that are dependent on aid can afford to neglect tax collection, countries without it are forced to use taxation appropriately. In 1990-2000, the Somaliland ministry of finance reported that “95 per cent of the resource that finance the activities are locally mobilised, mostly through taxation”.

Not only are taxes collected in a non-coercive manner, but the government enhances its legitimacy by allowing a degree of public participation in the policy-making process. For example, in early 2000s the government attempted to increase taxes on the private sector and proposed a VAT rate of 30 per cent, but the business sector lobbied against it and the policy was reversed.

In his paper, Nicholas Eubank, a researcher at Stanford University, claims that some of Somaliland's success is down to a dearth of aid. Donors cannot give aid directly to the government since it is not recognised as such. It has been dependant on raising local tax revenue, which the paper says citizens have used as leverage to make the government more inclusive, representative and accountable.

Only a moryaan would focus on aid instead of development, can anyone tell me when you saw @Inquisitive_ making a thread about development in galmudug? Where did galmudug do with all the aid money? And don't tell us it was the Bermuda Triangle :mjlaugh:

@Prince of Hobyo Galmudug has the smallest population of all federal states, so it would of course get less than Puntland and Somaliland.
What you should be comparing Puntland to is Galmudug+Hiirshabelle and it is about equal.

The people getting robbed are those in Koonfur Galbeed where the drought has hit worst. They should be getting 30% or 40% of the aid to Somalia.

In terms of qabil, Hawiye gets the most from Banadir, Hirshabelle and Galmudug and their share in the SFG. Rahanweyn gets the least.

there wont be anyone to hold the politicians accountable because people are so loyal to their Qabiils they would be fine with corruption

The reason why they get away with it is because of despicable people who allow them to and even defend them. Qabyaalad wouldn't even be a problem if people held their own leaders to account. As long as certain people benefit, expect more corruption.

Not 85% though you twisted nutjob.

The only thing glaringly wrong with this distribution is the share going to Saxiil region is disproportionately high, and Awdal's is similarly low. I'd take Saxiil's 14% and swap it with Awdal's 5%.

You didn't really say anything intelligent about the aid break down, so I guess resorting to insults helps you feel better about your lack of a point.

Everything is not qabyalaad, the smart people in this thread seem to get that the real problem is corruption, as most of this aid will not reach the people it's meant for regardless of region.

But I guess that gets in the way of your pesky narrative.:sass2:
