I clocked this ‘suddenly we’re not black’ a while ago when all those big accounts were tweeting “Its not our problem”….”handle your own issues” and it was in reference to a murdered Somali school girl (Shukri Abdi).
The people protesting alongside Somalis to get justice for the girl were…..other Muslims. In the end their apathy is good for us in the long run.

Somalis (like all Horn Africans) have always recognised themselves as distinct from Madows; and it's not at all surprising or objectionable, in light of the visible Eurasian component that you have.
Somalis are predominantly SSA in genetic terms and the overwhelming majority are unmistakably black African in their appearance, however, due to your looser hair, thinner lips and smaller nose, you are seen as black-lite.
Horn Africans are seen as racially aligned, but not racially in-line.
