Why are Somali kids hyper 24/7?

What the heck do Somali parents feed these kids? They're always hyper no matter what time it is. How come most of these kids do not respect their parents, the poor mothers are always yelling and none of them listens to her. Do Somali parents believe In time outs?


Growing up I was not a hyper kid. Infact I was pretty calm and collected. People always said I had kibir or I was spoiled because I never got close to people and always kept my distance. Infact when old ladies who visited my house forced to kiss me and hug and I would immediately tell them do not hug me you peasants (well I wouldn't call them peasants out loud but you get my drift) anywhoo, whenever I was out of line my parents would give me time out, meaning I would stay in my room the whole day, no tv, no snack. And my food would be delivered to me by my siblings who ate half of them while climbing the stairs. If I didn't apologize I would get extended time out, sometimes a whole week, I would go to my room after school and stay there until the next morning and the time out will continue until my dad would finally give in. You can teach your kids manners without beating them. My siblings and I never got whoopings, just that "harsh" timeout.

It's already very difficult to raise 2 or 3 small children, imagine 6 or 7. Often times I notice a lot of these hooyo's had children later on in their lives oddly ( or at least they look older), you'll see a forty something with a 4 or 5 elementary school aged children. I feel sorry for them, and the children. There is no structure so the children are wild.

I've noticed most of these women are tired and are always yelling. Some of them got a permanent rasp to their voice. I think what's contributing to this is, there's no father figure in the house. The dads are always gone and never help discipline the kids. Wallahi I truly feel sorry our Somali women, imagine taking care of 7 kids, the house, cooking, driving them around without any help from the so called sperm donor.

I was well disciplined.

Somali parents don't discipline their kids. They are on the phone all day and drinking double double coffees at the coffee shop. This is why Somali men are all gangbangers.

The good thing though is they are wishing up wallahi. A lot are choosing to have only 2 or 3 sometimes even 1.

Why are they pressured to have so many, in somalia you can at least have a boyesso and children can run around with less supervision. But in the west, even two parents would go crazy with that many kids, forget a single hooyo. Smh.

I think for kids to be less hyper we need to limit their sugar intake, increase daily activities specially gross motor activities such as ruuning, jumping, biking, swimming, ect. Walahi I am speaking from personal experience. The more you make your child busy (fun activities not in front of tv) the less hyper he/she will be. During winter parents should take their children indoor playareas such as Eagel's nest or play areas at malls. When children are bored and have a lots energy thats when they act out.

Somali kids eat too much junk food and there is no balance diet in their food. I once worked with a somali kid who had difficult and challenging behaviour and reason being was the mum used to feed him donats in the morning for breakfast otherwise he wouldn't eat anything else, then she used put few bars of chocolates in his lunch bag and that was the reason the child was hyperactive. The problem is somali parents don't know the importance of balance diet.
The parents also don't have routine, rules, boundaries and expectations set out.
