When Fob Somalis speak English is not that bad compared to Hindi,Chinese.Latinos and other groups. In Arabic they sound basically native.French and Ethiopian languages are also easy for Somalis to master.Must be a God given gift!

Most Somalis I know speak three or more languages! The sad thing is that our language is usually the one they're least fluent in.

I remember the first time being in Arabsiyo(I was 9) and I met Somali kids from diaspora but they were raised in Saudi and me and my bro were raised here in Canada.Imagine we are in our hometown and can't even communicate with eachother since both our Somali was broken af.RIP Somali lol

Its not your fault. Our people should be writing novels and proper films instead of siyaasad.

I'm a poor example of that, I speak 5 languages but can't have a decent conversation in Somali, I'm pretty ashamed of it :snoop:

not so sad after all
I think its because somali is a difficult language in terms of the complex grammar ( cases, tenses, verbal conjugation, plurals) so other lnguages are easy in comparison

Its not hard for you because you grew up with it. But imagine trying to explain to someone who doesnt speak it how to make plurals in somali. In english, it's adding and "s" at the end 90% of the time. But in somali there are like 5 different ways to make plural and its hard to know when to use what.
