Why are somalis hasid/mean here?

I have joined this forum recently and see people disrespecting each other daily, being mean spirited, cold to other members. I read through the qarxis thread, people trying to expose members and being evil. People start qabeel wars/ personal attacks. I have never seen other communities treat each other like this. Why do you all act like this? Like seriously, I haven't even been here 2 days and someone insulted me randomly.

Why do you all act like thugs online? Can't you be decent human beings online? Don't you fear Allah? Do you think cussing like a drunken sailor makes you tough? It actually makes you look weak and miserable with your life hence why you come here so upset.

I know the moderators here are doing their best to keep this forum clean but I don't believe that this forum is for good people. It will only attract the likes that are here. I know theres decent people somewhere in-between (I'm sorry I haven't come across it yet) but the bad people are too many. They come here to ruin this place and from what I've seen they already accomplished that. I don't know what I can do but consider leaving this place. People are displaying anti-social behavior they can't have a conversation without personal attacks. I think the good people will end up leaving if things don't change.

Our online behaviour is a testament to our dire social situation. Other communities have the same problem. I have seen it in Desi and East African societies. It boils down to one thing and that is the concept of 'ceeb' or shame. The people that start these fights understand this and they take advantage for shits and giggles. The best moderators can do is show zero tolerance. I would suggest we ignore such people but that can't happen as Somalis tend to go overboard with their qarxis including making videos. Shameless bunch tbh.

The place needs better moderation. Agressive no-tolerance moderation. Im worried there wlll be nobody left though, since childish mud-slinging is the main theme here.:faysalwtf::angryman:

There should be a containment section, where it can be a free-for-all for insults and qabeel jokes. Outside of that, everyone should be showing utmost akhlaq and ixtiraam.:fittytousand:

I eant to save this board, so that grown Western-raised Somali folks can have a place to have adult discussions about Somali culture, politics, and history. :mjcry::mjcry::mjcry:

Look walal the thing is
Anonymity gives people to do whatever they want with no real life repercussions. A lot of people, for various reasons (insecurity, mental disorders, or general hate for people and the world) will go crazy on this simulated power and turn into an asshole. Just because they can.

All that aside though, whatever their thoughts and opinions, it's only words on a screen. Try not to take it personally and if anything, be thankful that you're unlikely to ever come across them in reality and they are probably more insecure than you. The fact it offends, even mildly is a good thing, it means you're not some robot and use it as a lesson to be all the more courteous when you're expressing yourself, even when in a foul mood.

Years of foruming has turned some members cold. Leave now and save yourself

Wa alaykum Salaam @Honey
i think most of us come here to let off steam and just to have a bit of banter and to connect with other Somalis. I doubt they behave like this IRL. Yes, they should know better and behave more decently but you're forgetting this is the internet, people think they can do and say whatever online and log off at the end because there are hardly any repercussions. The only rules oft spoken about on this forum is no and exposing other members. These are great rules and majority of the members support it but I don't think there are any rules against using foul language, or bullying other members etc. if there are I haven't come across it. However, people's tolerance levels differ. Some people are okay with foul language and insults here and there because they believe in the whole 'sticks and stones' concept.

I think there should be an infraction system put in place where members are infracted for using abusive/obscene language. I don't see that happening though because most of them don't want more restrictions.

I actually cringe when some of them refer to each other as nigga. It's ironic when most are against black people in general but use words predominantly used in the black culture. The fact that they post their inflammatory comments under anonymous shows they have some shame at least. I've also seen this kind of behaviour in other ethnic forums so it's not unique to Somalis. It's just the anonymity of the internet that drives people to do/say things they normally wouldn't.

I've also recently joined this forum and noticed this as well. I joined this forum to chat with those who are like minded, have similar interests/concerns/thoughts on all matters of life but I also try to stay clear from those who are just downright rude and can't string together a sentence without cursing.

There are some decent people on here. Just curve those who seek unnecessary attention - they aren't worth the keystrokes.

Maybe we can get a section for the nice folks, reer edeb leh. :hmm:

Qabiil talk is fine, but no name-calling or baseless stereotypes. And constructive conversation can flow there. Let the rest of the forum run wild

If you think SS has some bad people check the other Somali forum. They insult the dead and the living with no remorse. Qabiil bashing isn't bad on SS tbh but yea the few who insult others should chill.

@Honey if you think this is bad then you haven't seen the Somali groups on Facebook (ie shaah corner). All they do is drag each other.

@BenevolentGaraad we already have a dedicated section for qabyalaad and religious debates ( Free Society ).

@madamelioness foul language is tolerated, but not when it borders on harassment. Following a member from topic to topic just to insult them results in a warning. Repeat behavior results in a ban.

@thatreaderxx you can always put annoying members on ignore.

Well...this is the internet of course. Anything being said on here shouldn't be taken seriously.
Same people dissing you on one thread will like your comments on another. Waa iska bashaal, no sane person takes it to the heart.

Nah. Forums in general are like this. You really think other forums with a majority of cadaan, madow, indhoyar, or Arab are any more nicer than here? Don't make this "a Somali problem".

The average cadaan forum is no different to the cesspool called YouTube comments.
