Why are Somalis so brave for each other but fearful cowards when it comes to foreigners in their countries and alshabab?

Any random clan fights sees dozens dead in a day, with everyone from the women to the old and young men ready to finance and participate in these clan wars but as soon as Ethiopia or Kenya literally invades these same areas, all the sudden these clans are docile, submissive and can’t say or do shit:

i swear I don’t know what to make of these people anymore. 12 Alshabab ajnabis can hold whole towns captive with the locals not doing shit about it but god forbid if clan x or y dares sneeze in their general direction.

Some of us aren't like this, but we are certainly minority.

SubxannaAllah, this is something I often think about. We hear about young men losing their lives in clan conflicts, yet they never mobilize to liberate their country. Why do they choose to perish in senseless struggles instead of dedicating their energy to a greater purpose!!

Shabab manipulates and uses the clan issue by making peace between clans who have been fighting for years or allying with clans who have grievances with others. In some of their videos you see 70 year old so-called elders fighting alongside them.

The ajanabi in shabab and Dacish don’t really have power. There isn’t really anywhere shabab rules through foreigners. In the case of Dacish holed up in PL, the founder is from Cali Zalebaan clan of the local area. These groups manipulate existing tensions, grievances or apathy toward the local government. In many cases where the gov forces attacked Shabab held territories many of the locals left along with the fighters, you mustn’t forget these guys have operated in southern Somalia for 20 plus years. Their whole financial system relies on Somali networks. The issue stems from lack of security, governance and external interventions from Ethiopia etc.

Somalis are very easy to manipulate. Foreign forces take advantage of this by fuelling clan conflict so that they can later conquer. That's exactly how we were colonised.

And then there are the idiots who fall for the same thing over and over again. Ethiopia has been using the same trick for ages and it has worked. Same goes for Al Shabaab who understands the game, and how vulnerable Somalis, and Somalia are.

Narcism of small difference.

Because those other Somali male's from the neighbouring clan's have a direct effect on his livelihood, hence majority of the energy is directed there.

Let me give you a religious analogy to drive the point home further, using Salafi and Sufi groups. The greatest beef is within Salafi circles itself, the same applies to the Sufi's, you may wonder why but its easy.

Imagine your a Salafi preacher with a mosque, your income comes from the Salafi communities your preach to through donations to the Mosque as well as Dugsi fees and other courses you sell.

Who is your greatest threat with regards to $$$ status and influence? It won't be the Sufi preacher across the road because you have different audiences, but the other Salafi preacher has the same audience as you, he is able to entice away your followers and thus reduce your influence and $$$ by a significant margin.

To protect this, all of your energy is focused against him because he presents the greatest immediate threat to your livelihood, whereas the Sufi preacher threat is long-term.

Hence the intense internal bickering and hatred, you will mostly ignore other idealogical groups you have major differences with to focus on the immediate danger to your livelihood, survival instinct kicks and Shaytan amplifies this further by promising you poverty through inaction.

This concept applies everywhere in life including the clan example, keep in mind much of the clan conflicts are actually internal, people will always focus on their immediate dangers the most which in the majority of cases is always someone of the same clan or idealogical persuasion unless there is a real perceived immediate greater threat.

Somalis do this; I agree.

Our President HSM; unfortunately, is a prime example of this.

HSM bows down to foreigners, but he acts tough against his own aka all his trouble making during the Farmaajo years.

Don't come to us with BS.

Somali people pre civil war era were known to be brave and strong warriors. Its only after our state collapse and divisions that has allowed our neighbours to take advantage.

Our ancestors fought and conquered the land you call Somalia now with the longest coastline in Africa along with Somali Galbeed, NFD and Djibouti, we fought Ethiopia to the point we conquered two thirds of it before Portuguese intervention, we fought against the same Portuguese who aided Ethiopia and tried to conquer Somali coasts, we fought against the British colonist who used airforce in Africa for the first time to quell a resistance force, Hassan Barsane against the Italians in the south, the 1977 war in Ethiopia who were saved by Russia/Cuba ,ONLF against Ethiopia, ICU against Ethiopia and so on.

Somali people are fierce against Gaalo and our enemies, our history is a testament to that. However, a lone wolf dies whilst in a pack he survives. Our recent history since the fall of Siyaad Barre is one of disunity and division which has led to weakness, we have become the plaything of Ethiopia but inshallah we will unite by the permission of Allah and become a force to reckon with again.
