Why do countries have to exist?

Can somebody explain to me why there has to be countries in Africa, why can't we just live how we have lived for the past 1000 years? Why have Western European countries forced Africa through imperialism at gunpoint to imitate them?

When you just realize that this so called independence was just a facade and that these same European countries had a more sinister agenda. I give it up to them for thinking of such an amazing plan, hands off. We are such fools.

The only Empire on Earth is now Japan, and their Emperor is more of a ceremonial head of state like the Queen, he doesn't do much with his power and just sits there.
