I am confusion on why Somalis from Somalia are so against Somaliland independence?
Why do people care about Somaliland independence?

It is understandable. People feel more devastated and more fractured spiritually when part of their country separate. I wish that the somalis could live in one country, but that is not possible before we get our shit together. If Somalia unites and creates a strong effective government, then I can see that the people in Somaliland might want to be a part of it. But now I think Somaliland and Somalia should focus on fixing their problems independently.
Its because no self-respecting country has a state that believes they're a seperate entity.
After the Rwandan genocide, Paul Kagame pleaded with the Tutsis not to secede and they heeded. Due to that, they reached better than they would have separate.
Somalia's biggest problem today is Al-Shabaab and we should focus on that. But one must realise that Somaliland creates a dangerous precedent in Somalia. After all, nearly every state in Somalia is divided amongst tribal lines and if SL secedes it creates legal precedence for PL to secede as they were once a sovereign kingdom.
TLDR: Somaliland benefitted more economically and politically from uniting with Somalia but wants to leave when Barre, who targetted everyone, targetted them.
NB: If Somaliland achieves independence, I will be happy for them but SL and Somalia share the same religion, language, culture and ethnicity. The only reason for separation is qaabil.

The independence of Somaliland happened because Egal and his generation were angry that they were not considered for Somalia's presidency.
Those men were complaining since the 1950s but realised breaking away is their best opportunity of being a leader.

Somaliland is the land of isaaq and isaaq rule it.
Everyone knows this. If they want to be indepedent no problem but cut the bs about the britsih borders. Sl claims land they do not govern. Leave all the harti land out and you barely have a region. Let the samaroon vote and see if they want to be part of it.
As for we where a country before Somalia is bs. Never existed. There was a referendum in 1960 to join somalia and isaaq voted against it. Harti supported the union an thats how somalia formed

As for the Maakhir university the funding was external and brought to sanaag under the name Puntland state of Somalia. A federal state receives aids and reliefs in the name of Somalia. Stop being delusional.

It’s known that the FGS steals most aid as it doesn’t leave Mogadishu/other Hawiye regions (even the UN/United States confirmed this) and the university was jointly funded by Kuwait, PL govt and Sanaag diaspora.

You seem to have the best interests of PL at heart but you need to ask yourself this?
1. What makes PLers different on paper from other Somalis (demographic-wise)?
2. How will you explain PL secession to non-Somalis who have never heard of a country that share demographics splitting?
3. How will you justify the claims of clannism that will hamper the legitimacy of your new nation?
Wallahi we have reached a low point if we faan about being balkanised.
Find a nation that shares every possible demographic which decided to split up?

I known lakiin it can be said that we dont get anything. Kuwait gave us money in the name of Pl state of Somalia. for the funding sanaag is part of pl so the gov has to fund it. Sanaag diaspora paid alot. My small juufi is paying 300k in somalia. Lakiin as reer pl we need to do are part it moving foward are deegan and the rest of Somalia . Not say we are going to be independent.
