Why do People here love talking about Genetics and Haplogroups

I understand its an interesting topic and explains how we came to be via migration, and how culture spread by having new groups come over etc, but it feels like every 10 threads there's one on genetics, like surely we don't need another 50 threads explaining e1b1b, I don't even know my blood type wallahi.

Migration is fun to look at but i dont understand the e1b1b stuff and the admixture whatever the hell they talk about. All ik is that I come from a long line of Somalis.

No you're right absolutely I just wish we had more archaeologists could study the peninsula, instead of it being relegated only on internet forums

Inshallah one day we get to have archaeologists study all throughout Somali territories. Theres so much to Somali history. Also, it would be nice to read and or just hear oral traditions of Somali history for all territories. Tho the history buffs on sspot are doing a good job of explaining somali history I love it.

Shared my thoughts on it in one of those threads.
When i see stuff like this i am often reminded that there are two types of people you will find that will have interest in genetics. The ones that seek to use it to formulate false outdated racialist ideas and generalizations or those who use it to understand the real migratory relationships and relatedness between ancient people and cultures.

To me i never really speak about it much or delve to deep into it because the technicalities surounding it and the language is a bit confusing to me.

I'm still trying to figure out why we have a subsegment of apes calling themselves Arab @peterpeter @CABDULWALI XASAN. @Idilinaa

They got the same haplogroups as us.
Look just like us

But are on the internet calling themselves Arab :mjkkk: .

It's like these niggas wanna be Sudani instead of Somali.

Firstly I am not into policing people's identities. If someone wants to call themselves this or that, they can do that. Maxaay iga galay.

Haplogroup iyo waxas ka hadlaysan doesn't determine someones cultural identity. It's not a race/identity marker the way weirdos on the web treat it.

It is an ethnicity/race marker, as certain groups are associated with certain haplogroups or their subclades, clans in Somalia (not all mind you) have been shown to share the same subclade thus proving the abtiris to be correct, as they descend from a common ancestor.

They way i understand it and how it's been explained to me. It might tell you where a portion of your ancestry is from and when it arrived but that's about it. It doesn't tell you what cultural identity you have

A genetic marker can be introduced into different populations in different time periods. That means those who bear it don't necessarily have to be of the same cultural identity or ethnicity or even directly closely related depending on how wide or close the gap between generations/time, i.e closest ancestor is.

That could be said for some groups yes, but it doesn’t apply to others. It most certainly doesn’t apply to nomadic or pastoralist groups who practice kinship. There are motley people and pure people.

I am not implying Somalis are not closely related to each-other or don't share the same ancestry. We do.
