Why do Somalis on the internet continue to talk about colonialism from Italy?

This forum as well as tiktok continue to bring it up- Italians right now probably don't even remember that they colonized Somalia so why are we bringing up and putting this ceeb on the internet?

Worse part is that they try and make it seem like Italians completely xooged us and we got treated like the Congolese from the Belegians when it's far from the truth.

Ethiopia during 7 year occupation was more colonised then Somalis ever where LOL, people need to learn difference between protectorate and colonisation. We self governed had our own Laws and Islam as state religion we had clan leaders and also Sultans who attended conferences in Italy, whist The Italian king was declared king of Abyssinia he did not do the same for Somalis also the King of Italy's face was on their currency as well as the economy and law was changed into Italian even the Tigray worshiped the Italians.

When Xalimo or beta farax go to college and pick up social work or gender studies, they tend to suddenly become anti-West and start talking about colonialism that happened a long time ago. They start praising Somalia even though they’ve never been there and begin using keywords like ‘colonizers’ towards white people, while simultaneously dating a white person . Even tho they didn’t enforce their language on us, it helped us temporarily for the first 12 years of our independence until we developed our own Latin script.

Back then Our currency & passport & everything else was in Italian. I don’t see anything wrong with the language I believe it should be reintroduced as a 3rd language to help our youth enter Italian universities and bring their knowledge back to Somalia. We need to train our future workforce the country is majority youth.
