I hate how Yemenis are seen as some type of beauty standard in somali culture. Whenever a somali is light skinned and attractive, they say he or she looks Yemeni. People would always say this to me when i was younger. It's annoying. Many Somalis claim to half Yemeni just to seem more exotic and desirable.
It pissess me off because Somalis shouldn't putting Yemenis on a pedestal. They're the Oromos of the Arab world. They are the ugliest, the shortest, the poorest of the Arab world. They're looked down upon in the Arab world as lower class because they're darker skinned and poor. My cousin teaches in Saudi Arabia and his students would make fun of each other by calling each other Yemeni as an insult.
So why do Somalis put yemenis on a pedestal when Yemenis themselves are seen as the lowest of the Arabs?
