Why is Virginity so damn important in the Somali culture?

I'm just sitting here thinking why do people find it so important to keep their virginity? If people opt to keep it I see no problem with that, but I've never been told why it was important?

Religious beliefs and age aside, it's possible that some people wish to retain their virginity because it's a very personal thing that cannot be recaptured. It might mean a conscious choice to save that particular event for someone special like a husband for Halimos.

What is stupid about this is that I've known folks who have been fairly sexually active, then elected to remain celibate for a period of time. Their reasoning was different in each case, but one of the primary themes was that they wanted the act of sex to be something important and they wanted to save it for their spouse even though no one can genuinely tell if a girl is or not a virgin.

The other issue I want to address is teengera and sex, every adult says that teenagers are not ready or don't understand the complexities of sex. But everyone I know including myself has had sex and is in no way broken up about it. Some of the girls I've had sex with, I'm honestly cool with and hang out with them.

Some of you might argue the reason youngesters might catch STD's, AIDS, Teen pregnancy and such but we all know that is another bullshit reason why teenagers shouldn't have sex.Al those things can happen at any time, and at any age. Just because your older does not mean you will deal with those shitty situations any better. We all know stupid adults.

If you use protection, there's no reason at all to keep virginity. You might as well have sex with some partners your own age, and get some practice at it so you can be ready for pleasing some woman you may want to be serious with later on. Sex is a natural process, an animal process, it releases happy chemicals in your brain, and little else.

People make up all kinds of reasons why this simple biological process is so evil and dangerous, and it's mostly because they're not getting any, or not getting the "right" person to have sex with. The best part is many adults who preach about teens not having sex had sex as a teen themselves. So they get to enjoy it, but not you. Much like people whining about drugs. It's just bullshit IMO.

So let me reiterate, USE PROTECTION (meaning condom on your penis, not "trusting the pill" or some other bullshit) and it's smooth sailing. Sure there can be complications, but as I well pointed out above, Adults have the same fucking problems.

So can someone give me a legitimate reason why "saving" yourself is so important in our 7the century Somali culture?

Besides the obvious religious, practicality and health reasons of why virginity is important/revered, research studies have shown that the number of sex partners directly correlates with divorce rates. So much so that having 1 sex partner before marriage vs 2 can increase your chances of divorce by 20%. And every subsequent partner(s) thereafter increase that percentage further. The widespread of having sex outside of marriage and having multiple partners is fairly new phenomenon within the last 50+yrs, and now compare the divorce rates then/now worldwide!

Some will have you believe that the ever increasing divorce rates directly correlates to the rise of “women independence” but that’s bullshit. They’ll say “well women no longer *need” men to survive so they gtfo of bad marriages” but that’s not true! The West loves to think itself as the liberator and epitome of women’s rights but the truth is multiple cultures, civilizations and religion(Islam!)provided women just as much if not more rights throughout human history, but yet divorce rates did not skyrocket then so why now? Well the difference is during the 60s, along with the so-call “women’s rights movement” came the “sexual liberation” for bott sex! This lax view of sexuality and even the encouragement of it directly lead to high divorce rates, STDS(hello 80s!!), delayed marriages, infertility and the broken nuclear family.

Virginity, chastity and monogamy has been practiced for basically most of human history and it worked to keep STDS away, increased reproduction/fertility and created stable families thus societies. So don’t listen to the bullshit propaganda that promiscuity is some fun activity with no consequences; its detrimental in more ways then one and has long-lasting affects that may not be immediately visible.
