This is why I’m particular with what I donate to in Somalia. A lot of Somalis like to crowdfund for clan wars but hide it as something else in the West, why would I give money for child soldiers to get butchered because of their clan?

I only send money directly to family members and people who aren’t family but I know are struggling. Never participate in crowd funding. I still remember marehan older gentleman, then in his 70s asking me to donate 1000 dollars to buy 2 ak47 so marehan can take back kismayo in 2013. Because my mom is marehan he assumed I was too. It’s insane! I told him we would pay for the treatment of wounded men and we did, but that I wouldn’t facilitate murder.
I expect the low iq danyeer odays to shake hands and smile tomorrow after they killed of 100s of young men and left mothers grieving:

I feel sorry for people who crowdfund, imagine all the deaths they are facilitating, the grievances, the suffering. And if you think about it if you funded those 2 AK's you would get a sin for every person killed and every single bullet.

This shit is why I always laugh when Americans or others talk about their ‘right to bear arms’. The massive proliferation of weapons in Somalia and the wider region is why these clan wars are so incredibly destructive. Take away the weapons from everyone and there would be peace.

Clan animosity and hate is way worse than it ever was. Anyone who thinks it’s going away anytime soon is very delusional.

It use to be the clan hatred was for neighbouring warring clans, but even then they intermarried and had xeer. Nowadays Somalis in Djibouti and Garissa are beefing on tiktok and spewing the most dehumanizing garbage towards each other. Even the feuds within subsubclans has gotten so bad that people have stopped intermarrying within their own clans forget outsiders.

The xeer is now used as a get out jail free card where rape and murder go unpunished.

The only good thing to come out of this is all clans are so stigmatized that the stigma for madibhan et al is slowly starting to fade.

Edit: It also used to be considered reer badiyo amongst city people to brag about your clan in an audicous way. Nowadays Somalis use ajanabis to bash other Somalis in the most ridiculous fadhi ku dirir
