Why so Somalis beg Maya Jama so much.

they get her to host the International Somali Awards, they always talk about her, they use her as representation for Somalis despite the fact that she looks nothing like one and wasn't even raised by her somali side.

This is a person who pretended to not be Somali until it was cool and now somalis are obsessed with her.

I really don't understand the obsession with this woman .
tried searching her name, and there are literally hundreds of topics titled 'Maya jama' here on Somalispot.

she's without a doubt the most mentioned name here on somalispot.

Her dad was married to the mum I believe and they had another child besides Maya.

Problem was he was a criminal that was in and out jail with substance issues.

The cadaan mum left the dad and Maya was partly raised by her ayeeyo.
